Was ist denn eigentlich Bitcoin? - Bitcoin vor Ort

Bit off more than I can chew but still seeing it thru!

Let me first preface this with the following:
A: I am a musician/singehobbyist coder.
B: I have never used a jigsaw before.
C: I embarrassingly enough had to google how to properly read a ruler.
D: Router to me means, internet.
E: Home Depot can be scary for those who have no idea what they are doing.
F. Home Depot is even scarier when you find out you know more than the employee that is helping you.
G: MDF is heavier than you can ever imagine. Please please please bring a friend or two. I am not by any means weak. Each board is 96 lbs!
H: MDF is messy as hell!!! I had to dust my whole living room after putting plastic over everything and just routing 12 inches of the arcade to test my t-molding. (More on that later).
I: I am positive most of you out there will laugh at me thinking ,”What the hell was he thinking?” Well you know what? Fair enough.. I thought I was. And hey, I still built my dream arcade. Yes I took the long way but whatever....
So, let us begin on the journey.....
If you are here to just scan thru and find info on how to build your arcade quickly, please email me at [email protected] and ask me there. I will do my best to reply quickly. (Not very busy at the moment). Otherwise, hang on...it’s goin to be a VERY bumpy ride. At least it was for my jigsaw and router.
I was born July 16 1974. I will never forget my first arcade. The sounds of all the machines going off at once. My Dad giving me a five dollar bill out of his brown corduroy jacket to get quarters was like I hit the jackpot. All 20 quarters barely fitting into my little hands, I felt rich!! This was also about the time the TV show Silver Spoons came out. I remember Ricky Schroeder having a few upright cabinets in his house. At that age I thought, ehh I’ll never have that. I grew up in the Southside of Chicago. Bridgeport. The land of Mayor Daley, Catholics and hot dogs. Arcade cabinets were for the wealthy and arcades, not for me. From then on, my Dad would take me to every arcade we could find, until they stopped. (I am 46 and we still play PlayStation 3 games together now that arcades are closed down). I have even learned how to code, 3D build in Blender and create my own VR arcades. But it’s not the same. So one day I spilled the beans to my wife who had no idea of my inner wanting.
PART TWO: HERE WE GO! It was around my 46th birthday when all of my family came together to help me purchase the gear to create my dream! My father in law helped me measure out the pieces but made me saw them with the jigsaw I borrowed. My real Dad is still in Chicago. I had the Home Depot guy cut the 8 x 4’ MDF into 5.5’ x 4’ MDF. Guess what? They still didn’t fit in the suv. So we roped them to the roof and rolled our windows down driving slow hoping they wouldn’t t fall off. Just like The Beverly Hillbillies!
We cut them outside at his home in the yard because I heard about how much dust it created and would be either evicted or divorced if I did that here.
Once we were done cutting:....
I piled all of the heavy pieces into my tiny Prius and lugged them up into our apartment. Before that, I must tell you where I got my plans.
Geekpub.com was who I settled on as I had been googling like crazy trying to find the easiest and best plans etc.. Mike on Geekpub is fantastic. However, if you are a noob like myself, message me. I was confused over a few things and ended up returning a lot of items back to Amazon that I never needed. No worries. Mike at GeekPub is a total pro with a pro workshop. He even mines his own Bitcoin!!!! He is my new hero. Anyways, he leaves a few things out that most of you would probably already know. (Which is why I’m sure he didn’t mention it). Like, never use water based paint for MDF. Always prime MDF. You don’t need a piano hinge for a full upright. Etc....
Mike made his arcade with cream of the crop gear. I had to improvise with only a jigsaw, router, drill and sandpaper. I bought brad nails but never used them. mike has a fancy air compressor nail gun he uses. I do not possess that. But, I DID use wood glue and pax MDF screws that I found at Home Depot and bought only because they said MDF! They contain their own bit to use which is a star shaped but.
It’s crazy how strong wood glue is. I glued a brace in the wrong spot and had to chisel it off 2 hours later!! Be careful and triple check. Take it from me!!!
For your control panel Mike recommends Forstner bits for your control panel and I agree. Do yourself a favor and get these.
When it comes to routing out for the T Molding, I did it with a portable hand router. I DID purchase my bit on Amazon.
Ok so if you are going to borrow a router, find out the size of the shank before you order your bit for the t-molding slot. I originally ordered the 1/2 “ shank only to find out it needed the 1/4”. Also, take note or the size you need when ordering your t-molding!
Always rout from left to right. And again, if you are using MDF, mask your home with plenty of plastic. Make it look like in ET when they come to take home away. You’ll be glad you did!!!
If you are screwing into MDF, go slow and try to limit the times you have to re screw or else the wood fibers will split on you and your screw will just keep turning.
I haven’t started this yet but have learned a lot from researching other’s builds.
I learned to NEVER use water based anything on MDF as it will ruin it by swell.
I will add more info once I purchase my items from you know where.
I also made many mistakes by trying to saw a straight line with a jigsaw. No...I didn’t know about a straight edge guide.. Anyways, I just ordered a hand plane and I hope this will fix it. Will update soon!
Final -ish thoughts:
I’m positive I left out a bunch. I recommend you go to geekpub.com and buy the guild pass. I have zero affiliation with Mike. But am a big supporter as he does have quite a lot of knowledge. If you would like to just learn thru me, I can get you set and rolling with the knowledge that I have. [email protected]
Cheers, Jesse

[the elder scrolls games] How the Furries Saved Tesblr

So this drama actually started the day after lorkon drama looked like it had finally calmed (it hadn’t. See that post for updates) but I didn’t want to post it then to avoid flooding you with tes drama. It’s bad enough having to deal with it when you are voluntarily part of the community.
This drama focuses on the tumblr community, nicknamed tesblr. Now tesblr is less lore focused, although many people are interested, and instead more about having fun with the game and it’s story. Many people make OCs with very elaborate back stories, which are various levels of canon friendly since the main point is just have fun with it (cringe culture is dead and the protagonist is a Mary Sue anyway so who the fuck cares), many of which are shipped with established characters in the game. Fanfiction is often written about these characters whether it’s just their story or the more erotic fiction we associate with fanfiction with them and the characters they are shipped with. People also draw pretty neat fan art. It’s a really creative community.
Before we get further in just some background on the elder scrolls series. In the game there are 10 playable races (there are other races, such as the elves who tried to become gods and accidentally erased themselves from existence, however only 10 are playable). These consist of the three elven or mer races - wood elves (bosmer), dark elves (dunmer), and high elves (altmer), the four human races - imperial, red guard, nord and Breton (who are also called manmer because they’re kinda half human half elf), the two “beast” races - argonian (lizards with tits made by a tree) and khajiit (cat like race who’s physical appearance is determined by the positions of the moons with 17 different types ranging from basically a house cat to pretty much identical to a wood elf. The type in the game Skyrim is the Cathay type which are basically people but with fur) and orcs, who technically used to be elves but then their god was eaten by another god who shit him out as yet another god and then all his followers turned into orcs. At least that’s what the legends say.
This drama revolves around an altmer character named Ancano. Ancano is the antagonist of the mages guild questline and a member of the thalmor, a group from the Aldmeri dominion that, by the time of Skyrim, is all about elven supremacy. They are, aside from the dragons, probably the most antagonistic group in the game. Everyone hates them, even their friends. They throw terrible parties. Some people ship their character with Ancano. I don’t know why but each to their own. Who cares. Someone wrote a fanfiction of their khajiit OC having sex with Ancano and posted it on a fanfiction website. This is all pretty normal stuff and if you don’t like it you don’t have to read it. Someone didn’t like it but read it anyway.
A tumblr user I shall call L first sent that person a message about how disgusting they found it that they wrote fanfiction about Ancano with a non mer character and then flooded the Ancano tag with similar sentiments, saying it was bestiality and rape and it literally made her throw up because she was so dizzy from how disgusted she was. All posts (of which there were many) have now been deleted however I took screenshots of most of them. Some referred to the ship of Ancano and a khajiit as proxy rape or even outright rape, L referred to the author as “degenerate rapist trash” making reaches to fit her “sick agenda”, one even compared it to the myth (that she seemed to think was true) of Stalins human-ape hybrids. I want to remind you at this point that khajiit are fully sentient people, capable of complex thought, speech and most importantly consent. They just have fur and tails and maybe a cousin you could mistake for a housecat if you didn’t hear him talk.
She constantly made declarations of how much she loved Ancano and how special he was to her (just a reminder this is the antagonist to what is arguably the worst quest in the game) and how disgusted she was that someone would do this to her. She spoke at length about how Ancano was “far too intelligent and discerning” to be in a relationship with someone who was not mer and said that such things belonged “in the deep web with all the isis freaks, pedos and bitcoin assassins” and even went as far as to say people who supported shipping him with a khajiit deserved to be euthanised. Again, this is a sentient non human fantasy character being shipped with another sentient non human fantasy character. Her real problem was not that he was being shipped with a khajiit, but he wasn’t being shipped with an elf. Something that’s important to note what with the context of elven supremacy in the game.
She also mentioned elven supremacy a lot. Like.. a weird amount. She tagged a lot of her posts with “elven supremacy is the only truth”. She referred to the ship as “vile degradation of a member of the aldmeri dominion and a proud altmer”. She said people who ship him with non mer needed to be “put in their place”. It all got a bit weird.
So the tag for this character was flooded with all this and people were not happy. So what was their response? Flood the tag with something else. Ancano and khajiit ships to be precise. Fanfiction, fanart, talking about khajiit OCs, and even just posts about Ancano loving khajiit filled the tag. A blog was set up with the sole purpose of calling Ancano a furry. Now keep in mind this is the public tag. While this was obviously in response to L’s many many many posts very few of them specifically mentioned her and she didn’t have to look at the tag. It’s a pretty small tag and most of what was being posted their previously was her rants, so it’s not like she’d miss out on content. She looked anyway. And wasn’t a fan, unsurprisingly. She made more posts about how disgusting everyone was, which only made people post more.
L has since apologised and deleted all the posts, but Ancano the furry lives on.

💥Public Group Contest 💥

A new version of GuildChat is now available! This update brings with it a few things that have been highly requested by our community: Public Groups and BitCoin Wallet.
The Public Groups feature will be displayed on top of the Chat page. Any group can be set to Public through the group management tools within the app, and after 24 hours, the group will be available in the explore groups section.
To celebrate the launch of this new feature, we will be rewarding five Public Groups created by the community every week with a total of 100,000 TRX to be dropped inside the groups to all its members. To participate, group owners must:
- Fill this form to provide the Public Group information: https://forms.gle/x9g3kwgFX8vn6rTi8
- Spread the word to get users to join and actively participate in the group chat.
- Have at least 50 members in the group
- Group must be active and the discussions centered around the chosen category.
Every week, five groups will be selected by our GuildKeepers to win up to 5,000 TRX each, plus an extra reward for each retweet received in the BitGuild tweet highlighting the group. This is a great opportunity to build your own crypto community, or bring over the one you’ve cultivated outside of the app.

Answered Questions from GFL's November Twitter and FB Q&A

Yup, its that time of the month again.
This post is meant to compile all the answered questions in one place, for easy reference. I'll try to keep this as updated as I can
Ask questions on Twitter or Facebook
Today's TwitteFB Q&A is more or less over. If you missed it or have any unanswered questions, the Reddit Q&A's tomorrow. and the discord one on the 14th
Questions about dates (release dates, schedules, etc.)
Q: When will you guys release the name change bundle again?
A: I think you will need to wait for at least a month or two.
Q: When we will get Arctic Warfare?
A: For now, all I can tell is that it will be no later than February. Faeries are unlikely to be implemented before AW
Q: When will the Halloween and School gatcha costumes be added to black card exchange ?
A: Reading Club gacha will be added to Black Card Exchange when the next gacha comes out while Halloween gacha needs to wait for 2 more gachas. Basically every nth gacha will join Black Card Exchange when No. n+2 gacha is online.
Q: Will we have a wider variety of 2/3/5 Star AR T-Dolls incoming for the ENG version?
A: Yes, I think we can expect to have more 3-5 star AR T-Dolls in the future.
Q: When xm8 will be added into the production pool ?
A: I think you will have to wait for a while. She is unlikely to come out in the first half of next year.
Q: What is the costume gacha this month going to consist of?
A: We will announce it soon, so please let me stay silent for now.
Q: Will TMP come next month?
A: Unlikely
Q: When will we get ak12 and an94?
A: Not before the 4th major event Singularity.
Q: When will we get MDR, K5, and K2?
A: None of them is likely to come out before the second quarter of next year.
Q: In your calculations, when would we be able to catch up with CN server?
A: Our current plan is to reach the point where we are only 1 or 2 major events behind CN server, but this really depends. We may not be able to fully catch up, since we need time to do the translation, testing, adjustment and potential bug fix, but we won't fall behind too much.
Q: Any ETA for chapter 8 on the main story?
A: Story of Chapter 8 is related to the major event Arctic Warfare, so we are not going to see it before the event. Answer to a related question on chapter 9: Chapter 9 is likely to come out after the 3rd major event.
Q: DSR50 when?
A: Probably after 2 more major events.
Q: SPAS-12 when?
A: SPAS-12 will probably be in the next batch of SG T-Dolls.
Q: How long approximately until Ch.09 is released?
A: Probably after the 3rd major events, as the story of this chapter is related to the event.
Q: When will we get a new client? (CN got a new beta client recently)
A: We need to finish the new client first. Only after that can we begin to construct the new EN client.
Q: Will AEK 999 costume coming anytime soon?
A: At least not in this year.
Q: Are there any plans to rerelease the very first skin batch (the party dress one)? Since its also missing sr3-mp skin too
A: The bundle for SR-3MP will be released later, and there will probably be a rerun for this gacha in the future. (In a similar question, SR-3MP's costume was said to be coming probably next year)
Q: I see it in the loading screens and the like but when's the "Café" mode coming?
A: We should have it in this year.
Q: If you are planning to catch with the CN server, are we going to get some gachas ahead of their time? (i.e. seasonal gachas).
A: The chance is there. We are still discussing about this.
Q: Can we expect T-5000 to be added before the end of the year?
A: She may come out in this year.
Q: When are we getting M1014?
A: I don't think we are getting her before the second quarter of next year.
Q: When will RFB and her costume come out?
A: She may come out in December, but her costume will not.
Q: Any idea when steyr AUG comes out?
A: Probably in the first half of next year.
Q: Will we get G36 children skin for free like JP server?
A: Probably, though I cannot tell for sure
Q: Any plan for rescue event / 4&5* general rate-up at december?
A: Not any to my knowledge. The rescue event is likely to come in January.
Q: When will we get C-MS?
A: Not before the second half of 2019, can be later.
Q: Do you have any idea when AA-12 and K11 will be added?
A: Not anytime soon.
Q: Is it possible to get an estimate for when Ameli will be released?
A: Within this year or early 2019.
Q: When are we getting Tac-50?
A: I don't think it would be anytime soon.
Q: When we will get the next 1.5 exp event?
A: The next will probably be in early 2019.
Q: Is OTs-14 going to be available again soon?
A: She will probably become available again in Cube+(a rerun of Cube).
Q: How often will those 7 Day Frontline Supply events occur?
A: Only once, unless we update it again.
Q: Will Chapter 6 night be after fairy release?
A: It will probably come out before fairies.
Q: When will PZB-39 be added?
A: I'm afraid that it won't be any soon.
Q: Can youu add more regular t-dolls between events next time?
A: I think every batch of regular T-Dolls will consist of 5-6 T-Dolls. There may be times that we have more, but the general pace will not change much.
Q: With the BlazBlue and Guilty Gear collab announced, can we hope to see the huge DJMAX collab event in the near future?
A: Unlikely in the near future, but I think we may have it later.
Q: When will Digimind upgrade come?
A: Not before Singularity
Q: Are we gonna have the 5* pick soon?
A: I'm afraid that we are not getting it soon
Q: Will there be giveaways on December?
A: Christmas mail? Yes.
Q: Will there be children's day skins on EN?
A: There will be Children's Day costumes, though I cannot reveal the release date yet. (An answer to a related question stated that the Children's Day costumes should be coming next year)
Q: Will we get other server exclusive T-doll like how Japan have theirs and china?
A: If you are talking about exclusive T-Dolls in other server, I think we will get some of them in the future.
Q: When will G36's wedding costume be released?
A: Won't be anytime soon
Q: Will we ever get 2-for-1 deals on Oath Certificates like in the other servers?
A: Yes, I think we will have the deal in the future.
Q: How will the release schedule of non story related Digimind upgrades be like?
A: The schedule may not strictly follow the ones for older servers, but we are unlikely to have them all from day one.
Q: Can I expect an event that has a limited drop of Five-Seven this year?
A: Unlikely, should be in next year.
Q: Will Cube+ come by mid 2019?
A: Kind of, though it can come earlier.
Q: Any idea on the release of Saiga-12?
A: Probably in the first quarter of next year.
Q: When are we getting M590's (CNY) skin?
A: I don't think it would be any soon.
Gameplay Questions
Q: Will there ever be another opportunity to obtain SASS? i wasnt playing when she first came out but have been playing ever since.
A: The callback event is one way, but I assume that you are an active player, so the event is not for you. Still, she will probably become available again as limited drop in some events in the future.
Q: Will there be more development for Type 63? like a new costume or maybe a Digimind upgrade?
A: For now that costume is all we got for her. Digimind? Maybe, but that's not what I can talk about.
Q: Will there any live 2d costume that we can just buy, not by resupply?
A: As far as I know, there isn't any for now, though I cannot tell for sure if this will change in the future.
Q: In the anniv, can we select one dolls for free?
A: Probably.
Q: Will the dolls ever be able to interact with the dorm pets?
A: To my knowledge there is no such plans for now. Let's hope it will change in the future.
Q: Do you plan on translate and sub the rest of the lines the Dolls speak, to be available on the Index?
A: Unlikely. Those lines are not supposed to be visible.
Q: A lot of players complain about not having much to do and the game having too much time between each event or playable content being added, will we see any increase in the pacing of the game? if so how big? or is it going to continue like it has since launch?
A: We will see a generally faster pace in the future. I cannot reveal how big the increase will be but you can expect to see major events and contents release more frequently.
Q: Will the collaboration skins be able to be bought using gems later on?
A: Costumes from the GG & BB collab can only be bought with real money. The most expensive one should cost no more than $30
** Followup question: Will the future collab costumes be the same (buyable only with real money)?**
A: That depends. Some of them may be purchasable with gems, like those from DJMAX collab.
Q: Will you be re-releasing event specific dolls? (specifically Five-Seven)
A: Yes, they will probably become limited drop later.
Q: With the popularity of corpse dragging for leveling, will we ever be able to optionally resupply a single T-Doll instead of an entire echelon? It would be a greatly appreciated feature by the community, I think.
A: I'm afraid that this is unlikely to happen.
Q: How is it going the patch to fix the memory leak problems the game has after leaving it open for a long time?
A: We are making the new patch, but we still need more time.
Q: Will you guys considering to turning back the voice playback like the old one? I'm sorry to said this.. the overlapping voice update is annoying. Lot of my friends been turning off the game voice too since this update.
A: I will suggest a toggle in the next patch, since we are getting some similar reports recently.
Q: Will you ever implement real coop missions and more meaningful mini events like raids and seasonal missions with unique rewards?
A: I think we do have plans for more gameplay features, but I can't reveal much now.
Q: can we get a change for Support Echelons where they don't have the "Capture HQ" option during Night Battles?
A: Reasonable. Will suggest this to the devs.
Q: Can you add in notifications towards T-Doll and Equipment production upon completion?
A: It's up to the devs. Anyway I will let them know about this.
Q: How big is chance to got some costume on radiant collections?
A: Should be no different from normal gachas.
Q: Are there any plans for an EN exclusive unit?
A: Sorry but I can' really talk about this.
Q: In the collaboration event will we get the collaboration T-dolls through production, or via missions?
A: One of the event T-Doll will be the clear reward, while the other can be obtained as map drop or loot reward.
Q: I wanna know if we will have collaboration with other games? CoD and Metal Slug cones to mind...
A: We will have more collaborations in the future, though I cannot reveal any details now.
Q: Once the event concludes, there will be no other way to obtain the special Dolls Noel and Elphet, along with their respective outfits, correct?
A: Yes, both the T-Dolls and the event costumes will be unobtainable.
Q: I see garage and intelligence center in the dropdown for auxiliary rooms in the dorm, is there any info you can shed on what they will do or when they will be added to the game?
A: They are for the fire support units which will be implemented in the future.
Q: Is there in mind ways for users to obtain tokens more often? Grinding them takes quite some time and spending them them that fast does hurt a bit.
A: To my knowledge there won't be much change for this part.
Q: What, in your opinion, is the best possible production combination for normal and heavy production? I've been trying to get IWS and others but have hit the lowest of my luck in this game, any help?
A: I don't think it is suitable for us to reveal any recipes.
Q: Will there be a way to change your adjutant back to the default setting of "whoever is leading echelon 1"? I really liked that option but once I changed it I can't change it back. Even better would be an option that shows someone at random from your armory.
A: I think this has already been suggested to the devs. Let's hope there will be improvements later.
Q: Are there official formula for calculating battery from confort?
A: I'm afraid that I cannot reveal the formula for comfort.
Q: Can we get a feature to auto-retire t-dolls obtained in battle. Either by grade or type?
A: Don't know if it is possible, but I will suggest to the devs.
Q: Does specialized recipes exist for T-Dolls as well?
A: I think that would still be a question that I can't answer.
Misc Questions
Q: What happened on the CN server about the Valkyria Chronicles collab?
A: I can't answer this question
Q: Are we getting split screen support back?
A: For now it is disabled out of concern for stability, but I cannot tell for sure if it will be available again later. It really depends.
Q: Will you guys be doing any booths or appearances at upcoming or future Anime conventions/exhibitions?
A: We do have plans for conventions, but it will take some time to realize.
Q: Will there be any plan to sell GFL merchandise online in the global region?
A: Yes, we do have such plans, but we still need more time to do so.
Q: Is it possible to have a global server for en and jp similar to Granblue. Like single server that can toggle EN and JP languages? Also, is it OK to add subtitles on the battle phases?
A: For now I don't think we will have the toggle. The current UI has undergone many changes to have the English text fit into it, so the toggle means another set of UI and related picture assets, and the size of the game will be unacceptable.
Q: when is the top up bonus going come back? you know, like the bonus gems you get from the first purchase of that particular gem bundle?
A: It may get reset annually, though I cannot guarantee that this will be the same for EN server.
Q: Considering JP's current content pacing, will EN and JP will eventually run alongside in terms of contents and events? Or EN will keep its pace the way it is?
A: The EN server is following its own schedule, so the release of contents will not be synchronized in the two servers.
Q: English dubbed voices a possibility?
A: To my knowledge we do not have such plans for now.
Q: Since the game is more contents which the game size is getting bigger and heavier, have you considered the suggestion implementing the other option where you can download the game patch in SD card ?
A: I'm afraid that we do not have such plans for now.
Q: Are we getting the Honkai collab?
A: I don't think I'm allowed to talk about this.
Q: Any plans on releasing it on SEA?
A: Yes, we are considering release a global version next year.
Q: Will the official manga have a english version?
A: Can't tell for sure now.
Q: Not exclusive to Global but is there any possibility of a 'Dolls not yet collected' filter being added to the index?
A: Sounds reasonable. Will suggest this to the devs.
Q: Will there ever be a co-op mode/guild implemented into the game? I have multiple ideas of how it COULD be implemented if yall wanted to make it happen, but am curious on what yall have to say about these thoughts.
A: For now there is no such plans, but there is a chance that more interactive elements being added to the game.
Q: Will you fix the misplaced display for some characters? (DP28 for example)
A: Yes, we need more time to do a thorough check as the problem happens in multiple servers.
Q: About the game size which getting bigger for every update (3.5 GB rn), do you have any solution for players who have memories problem?
A: I'm afraid that for now we cannot significantly reduce the size of the game as the picture and sound assets take up much space.
Q: Are you satisfied about the community and how you've done with the game since the launch of the EN game?
A: I think we have done an okay job, but there are also improvements we can make in the future. Also, I think our community is really nice.
Q: Will we ever get a 4* pick ticket?
A: Yes, I think we will have one at some point.
Q: Why is maintenance on a Tuesday?
A: No specific reasons. We just picked a day. In another related question, this was the answer: It doesn't have to be on Tuesday, but this suits our working schedule best.
Q: What is third-party on payment methode? I see it on announcements but never know what is it
A: Like someone who claims that they can buy you gems.
Q: So if the SEA server is open, will there be any option to migrate ID there?
A: Still under discussion
Q: Will the music from the Girls' Frontline Orchestra event be released anywhere?
A: Honestly I don't know much about this either.
Q: Do you accept bitcoin as valid payment?
A: We accept any payment approved by Apple/Google.
Q: Any chance Tuesday maintenance can start 5 minutes after daily reset so we can have some time to use simulation points?
A: Sounds interesting. I will talk about this with the team.
Q: Will there ever be doll or equipment trading?
A: To my knowledge there isn't going to be any in the near future.
Q: Will the costume bundles get a rerun in the future?
A: I'm afraid that there won't be any for costume bundles.
Q: Any easier way to top up gems? Google play bit difficult for me
A: Unlikely, it is prohibited to add any payment option other than the direct Google top-up.
Q: Will you try to make to adversite the game more to get more people to play it , or do u think the game it's fine with the current playerbase it has?
A: We will probably have an advertising campaign upon the release of the collaboration.
Q: Would it be possible to enable us to move the game to an sd card? The game is getting big and I'd like to save space on my internal memory
A: I'm sorry but we do not have such plans for now.
Fluff Questions
Q: Why is SOPMOD so damn cute?
A: Because she was born to be so?
Q: Is Kar-98k your favourite t-doll, why?
A: She is one of my favorite. I like the way she looks and I'm a big fan of rifles.
Q: Which dolls would you : - pat, - oath, and - corpsedrag?
A: Zas Zas Zas
Q: How long will it take before M99 comes home?
A: When you see the 04:55:00 timer?
Q: What's in an GFL MRE ration?
A: Just normal MRE.
Q: What species is G41?
A: That's probably one of the biggest mystery in the game.

Valland & Ravengard seek Daring Citizens for the Adventure of a Lifetime

Well, I might be selling Citizenship in Valland a bit hard above, but let me explain.
The Intro
Valland/Ravengard are simulationist Micronations that happen to be hosted within an Online Game. This Online game has land that can be colonized and developed, so that cities and farms can come into being. The game has a vast and expansive crafting economy (with crafting recipes being kept somewhat secret), so that anything can be made. You can do anything from raise cattle, to be a chef, to a hunter, to a shipwright, to an explorer, to a warrior. On top of that, and while its certainly not the biggest draw, the game devs allow you to sell goods/services in the game for cash (and there is a small/developing secondary market for this).
Well, it is within these confines that Valland/Ravengard exist. I can't tell you too much right now, but I've recently come into some information. Information about a valuable on one of the game's servers. The problem? A continent worth of pirates and dedicated player-killers stand between us and this prize. The Solution? The development of Valland, eventual special operations to confirm the info I've been given, and an eventual expedition/invasion the likes of which has not been seen. Its a pretty large long term goal.
I can't do this on my own. I've played for years, and taken part in at least one large PVP server; so I know what to expect. However, this is your chance to join a fun and interesting community, and stake an early investment in what will soon be a bustling economy.
Interested? Read on.
Recruitment Needs
The nations of Valland and Ravengard are two different entities, and they each serve two different purposes. Valland will be a feudal kingdom meant to populate and develop a Kingdom, and eventually train an army if things fall into place. Ravengard will be a Constitutional Monarchy with a National Council dedicated to trade, commerce, and to some extent exploration/information. Naturally, I will be the Monarch of both, though my powers will be limited in regards to Ravengard. Naturally, if it comes to military matters, Valland will field a larger force for PVP, while Ravengard will work in intelligence-gathering/special roles/support.
Valland Right now, I am concentrating on building up Valland first. As such, we have quite a few generous packages to new persons joining. Given this is a feudal system, there are three broad groups you can join. There are different ranks within some (ie the peerage); and I'll be happy to talk with each applicant individually about the specifics.
The Peerage For the Nobility of Valland, our primary requirement is that you be able to bring your own vassals. In rare circumstances I might be able to give you vassals, but that will depend on an individual case. If you are accepted into the Nobility, you will be given a suitable site of land, some resources/goods (on loan), and at least two head of cattle, two sheep, and two horse. I reserve the right to provide livestock as stock allows, as numbers do deplete. In addition to repaying loaned material, you will pay an in-kind tax on some goods (particularly cattle/livestock), and will have some minimum service requirements. You will be expected to found a community and keep it. This level
Huscarls We also accept Knights. Knights will be given their own fief, which may or may not be on protected land (thus one requires more upkeep). You will be given a simple loan of material for the construction of your estate. You will be given a single horse (and are expected to breed it or replace it). You will likely owe very little in-kind taxes, but instead, will owe service to the Crown in both peace and war (training/law enforcement in peace; and of course combat duty in war).
Drengr Want to be a regular citizen? We will work to give laypeople land in protected areas. This requires no investment, just a willingness to come and play. We are also going to have a program for regular citizens to earn their way to a small estate on protected lands. Of course, the common folk do owe taxes and can be levied, so be prepared.
Specific Roles Needed Valland needs the following specific roles to be filled. If you read one and find it interesting, send me a PM and I'll give you more details. -Master of the Horse: I may have one or two (maybe a Master of the Northern Herd and Master of the Southern Herd). You will receive lands and incomes (In Valland Crowns), and given some breeding pairs. Your purpose is to make sure the nation doesn't lack for horses.
-The Rangers of Valland: Valland's first military unit. These troops will train as huntsmen and fighters in our home area. Rangers will have small houses built in protected areas, but should largely expect to be mobile, travelling our lands on hunts. They will also serve as law enforcement and dispute resolution. This position requires training, and will be a direct report to the King (Me :) ).
Ravengard As stated, Ravengard is a trade nation. It will exist on Discord at first. I've got to build an island for the City (im imagining a Thalassocratic City-State like Venice or the Hanse; but with a King as the symbolic figurehead). THe first organization for Ravengard will probably be a guild of builders to help me terraform...and then interested parties to help me draft a constitution. If you have neither the temperment nor time for PVP, Ravengard might be your best bet, and they will share in some of the future spoils.
Other Benefits
There are quite a few. We will probably play other games. I've got some economic programs in mind outside of the game that could help generate some activity and Wealth. We have a bitcoin casino on our Discord. This is not an exhaustive list of other benefits.
Well, here is hoping this wall of text didn't scare you off.

Sarasota, Hidden Gems of Reddit: Awesome Things for Kids and Adults!

I've been going through posts to categorize them to better help everyone find things. I've found some REALLY awesome stuff that seems to get missed. I've been absolutely floored with all that's here in Sarasota. The 30-page guide doesn't even "scratch the paint". As suggested by another Redditor I'm going to pull up some of these hidden gems. I've tagged people relevant to the subject. (sorry if you don't want to be tagged, I'll remove it if you do) I just want people to be able to ask others for more information

Amazing stuff for kids!

Suncoast Science Center
Summer programs: https://www.suncoastscience.org/camps/

Did you know we had a kids science center? This is an absolutely amazing place if you have kids that are bored over the summer and are interesting in STEM. Literally, every summer program class is absolutely amazing and tailored to specific grades. There's something for all ages. The science center has a FAB Lab which is also shared with Suncoast Makers.

Suncoast Makers:
" Just to clarify, Suncoast Makers are an adult makers club that meats at the more kids/education-focused Suncoast Science Center which owns the tools etc. We meet on Thursdays and are free and you can use hand tools and electronics tools free. If you want to use the big tools or work there at other times then Thursday evening you need to pay a membership fee to the Science Center. I would rather we had a true member-controlled maker space but this is the closest thing available this side of St. Pete. Feel free to drop by any Thursday after around 6 pm." - Ask digitaldavegordon for further details about Suncoast Makers.

Suncoast Developers Guild Jr: Intro to HTML/CSS (ages 8-12)

Although this event takes place in St. Pete, Gizmo-mom lists different programming classes for kids and adults alike. The event above is an upcoming event. These events are hosted in part with Suncoast Developers Guild. I'm not 100% sure if this event is being hosted by Gizmo-mom or not this time. This is definitely a good way to get kids into programming and web design.

Marietta Museum of Art & Whimsy
2121 N Tamiami Trail, Sarasota, FL 34234

This place isn't open during the summer but is AMAZING during the Fall/Winter. Perhaps you have a kid who isn't into STEM but arts/theatre/humanities. This place is an amazing start for kids in the arts. Art shouldn't have rules and be contained to a box. This place definitely helps kids explore art and opening their minds to new artistic expressions. u/SpinklesofSunshine Thank you for mentioning this!

Florida Studio Theatre
1241 N Palm Ave, Sarasota, FL 34236

Do you feel the music in the air and the rhythm in your body? Have you or your kids ever wanted to act? It's never too late to learn to express yourself! The FST offers a wide range of classes, programs, and courses for every flavor. u/Bitcoin_Charlie Thank you for mentioning it.

Escape Reality Downtown -- VR Bar & Retro Arcade
1900 Main St #104, Sarasota, FL 34236
(941) 444-6766

Have you ever tried, virtual reality? It's improved quite a bit since the 90s bulky ass setups. The games you play in VR are definitely challenging and worth the experience. Shout out to jmeftw for dropping this tasty bit!

As always, I'm sure I've forgotten something. If there's an amazing program out there for kids or adults, shout your answer out! Let's get together and share our community!

My research on Enjin Coin, this project is worth it!

My research on Enjin Coin, this project is worth it!
I'm not a gamer, but like almost everyone in childhood, I played CS, Battlefield, ‎Fallout, NFS and etc... At the moment the industry has to many games that I don't even know and some of them have millions players, it's totally amazing. PC Gaming, Console Gaming, Mobile Gaming, which are also can be divided into various sectors, all of these niches have become a viable form of entertainment for players from all ages. Enjin.com is the wonderful example of biggest gaming community for different kinds of games, which recently has created its own cryptocurrency Enjin Coin.
Well, every my research I begin with the white paper, because it's not only a tuition for my brain, it's a manifest the team directly to me, where I can find a lot of interesting, and after I've read it, I ask myself several questions like: how the team research the industry, how strong they are interested in that and etc... All of that helps me to be a bit closer to the truth.
I've read Enjin white paper but it brought me no pleasure. I mean, I didn't find any new for myself, and possibly because I'm not a gamer. WP is very easy to read, where identified specific problems of the game industry and how to deal with them. So let's research ENJ!
First of all, I would like to say some words about the team. I glad to see the team who are independent from investors' money(I think they earn a lot on Enjin.com) and are involved in the game industry since 2008/2009. More than 10 years of experience. Wow! The team also includes real professionals of their business - engineers, designers, architects and many others.
What is Enjin.com?
Did you ask yourself about it before you buy any amount of $ENJ? Okay, Enjin is the site alike Webs.com, Ning.com, Wix.com, etc... It's a simple blog hosting with 3rd level domains for gaming communities, I've made one test community to check, is there already support of ENJ Coin or not? And yes, it has ENJ coin as payment method, but only if you click on "Prepay" button, "Subscribe" hasn't this option. Furthermore, any player can donate ENJ coins to favorite clan/guild. In the result we already see the real usage of Enjin coin on the main site of the developers.

$ENJ in action

Donate ENJ coins to favorite clan/guild
Do you want more? Me too!
I were surprised the video above, where you can earn money by play game, and after you can spend it on foods or taxi drive to home. I dreamed about it when was a child. However, it's not that simple, the question is: who will pay you? In the past review about Theta Network, I found that stream platforms(not streamer) will pay to viewers for watching and sharing streaming content with other users, I think here is the same scheme. So, in this case I think it will work like -> the Game Platform earns money on players through Crypto Items, Multiverse Items or anything else, after that via distribution system of these earned money the most active players will receive some amount of ENJ Coin(maybe 100-250 coins per play) by doing challenges or by exploring the mysteries and the opportunities of the game universe. Hm... Good Plan!
This wallet.
This wallet is amazing for gamers and not only! Why? Someone collects baseball cards, other guy collects coins, Enjin Wallet helps collect items for video games and trade them for cryptocurrencies(real money) or swap them on different gaming items. But you also can swap you cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, Litecoin, Ethereum, ENJ Coin or ERC20 tokens without using an exchange, all your funds are SAFU, because only you store your private keys, this is very important because sometimes some guys hack crypto exchanges. And now I understood why Samsung has chosen the Enjin Wallet for the new flagship phone. Simple made easy.
Video games became more then just for fun, for Millennials it will way to make pocket money for lunch or for indoor-outdoor entertaining. I'm happy to see this model of monetization from Enjin Team, because experience has shown that the model one token - one game(like Nexium) won't stand a chance against a competitor with a token for different kind of games and ability to swap this token instantly to any popular cryptocurrencies. Bravo! But Enjin Team must pay attention of game developers to Enjin Coin and the possible ways of monetization to scale the Enjin ecosystem, which maybe hard to do. In addition, games that are rewarding users with ENJ Coin need streamers who act as biggest centers of the popular games, then mass adoption will come faster. What do you think?
Create your own Blockchain assets.
I found it very interesting because I imagined how people and gamers can use it. For example famous designer of art or games, in other word popular person can create their own blockchain assets, where it can have real value for collectors or traders. "Blockchain assets suit a multitude of use cases, including collectibles, gaming items, souvenirs, mementos, discounts, and achievements. The potential functions of this technology are currently only limited by the imagination." Well, I should try it! FYI, you can find the "Total locked in items" on the main page of Enjin Coin.

The issue was described as particularly acute for gamers, but here I can't say anything because I don't even know how it's going on. So if you have experience or you know more than me or the average user, please leave your comment, thanks in advance!
In conclusion.
Now, the game industry changed to the extent, that top gamers are earning the same amount of money as people who work at Wall Street. Enjin Team found attractive decision of the main issue, I guess, when the top players have its advertisers, then a regular gamers spend their time only for fun, why not to allow them to make money in additional? The answer maybe like: Game developers are greedy people and they want more and more money of players. I'm sure Enjin Team will release their new games soon, and I offer them my best wishes for a productive work.
This project seemed me very boring while I read the WP, but when I ended my research, I want to say, it's very and very interesting and perspective project with strong team which is moving in the right direction.
It's not a financial advice.
I haven't any investments in $ENJ.
I continue to follow /EnjinCoin, this project is worth it!
I wanted to apologize for possible errors bc english is not my native language.

The core concepts of DTube's new blockchain

Dear Reddit community,
Following our announcement for DTube v0.9, I have received countless questions about the new blockchain part, avalon. First I want to make it clear, that it would have been utterly impossible to build this on STEEM, even with the centralized SCOT/Tribes that weren't available when I started working on this. This will become much clearer as you read through the whole wall of text and understand the novelties.
SteemPeak says this is a 25 minutes read, but if you are truly interested in the concept of a social blockchain, and you believe in its power, I think it will be worth the time!

I'm a long time member of STEEM, with tens of thousands of staked STEEM for 2 years+. I understand the instinctive fear from the other members of the community when they see a new crypto project coming out. We've had two recent examples recently with the VOICE and LIBRA annoucements, being either hated or ignored. When you are invested morally, and financially, when you see competitors popping up, it's normal to be afraid.
But we should remember competition is healthy, and learn from what these projects are doing and how it will influence us. Instead, by reacting the way STEEM reacts, we are putting our heads in the sand and failing to adapt. I currently see STEEM like the "North Korea of blockchains", trying to do everything better than other blockchains, while being #80 on coinmarketcap and slowly but surely losing positions over the months.
When DLive left and revealed their own blockchain, it really got me thinking about why they did it. The way they did it was really scummy and flawed, but I concluded that in the end it was a good choice for them to try to develop their activity, while others waited for SMTs. Sadly, when I tried their new product, I was disappointed, they had botched it. It's purely a donation system, no proof of brain... And the ultra-majority of the existing supply is controlled by them, alongside many other 'anti-decentralization' features. It's like they had learnt nothing from their STEEM experience at all...
STEEM was still the only blockchain able to distribute crypto-currency via social interactions (and no, 'donations' are not social interactions, they are monetary transfers; bitcoin can do it too). It is the killer feature we need. Years of negligence or greed from the witnesses/developers about the economic balance of STEEM is what broke this killer feature. Even when proposing economical changes (which are actually getting through finally in HF21), the discussions have always been centered around modifying the existing model (changing the curve, changing the split, etc), instead of developing a new one.
You never change things by fighting the existing reality.
To change something, build a new model that makes the existing model obsolete.
What if I built a new model for proof of brain distribution from the ground up? I first tried playing with STEEM clones, I played with EOS contracts too. Both systems couldn't do the concepts I wanted to integrate for DTube, unless I did a major refactor of tens of thousands of lines of code I had never worked with before. Making a new blockchain felt like a lighter task, and more fun too.
Before even starting, I had a good idea of the concepts I'd love to implement. Most of these bullet points stemmed from observations of what happened here on STEEM in the past, and what I considered weaknesses for d.tube's growth.

The first concept I wanted to implement deep down the core of how a DPOS chain works, is that I didn't want the token to be staked, at all (i.e. no 'powering up'). The cons of staking for a decentralized social platform are obvious: * complexity for the users with the double token system. * difficulty to onboard people as they need to freeze their money, akin to a pyramid scheme.
The only good thing about staking is how it can fill your bandwidth and your voting power when you power-up, so you don't need to wait for it to grow to start transacting. In a fully-liquid system, your account ressources start at 0% and new users will need to wait for it to grow before they can start transacting. I don't think that's a big issue.
That meant that witness elections had to be run out of the liquid stake. Could it be done? Was it safe for the network? Can we update the cumulative votes for witnesses without rounding issues? Even when the money flows between accounts freely?
Well I now believe it is entirely possible and safe, under certain conditions. The incentive for top witnesses to keep on running the chain is still present even if the stake is liquid. With a bit of discrete mathematics, it's easy to have a perfectly deterministic algorithm to run a decentralized election based off liquid stake, it's just going to be more dynamic as the funds and the witness votes can move around much faster.

STEEM has had multiple events that influenced the distribution in a bad way. The most obvious one is the inflation settings. One day it was hella-inflationary, then suddently hard fork 16 it wasn't anymore. Another major one, is the non-linear rewards that ran for a long time, which created a huge early-user advantage that we can still feel today.
I liked linear rewards, it's what gives minnows their best chance while staying sybil-resistant. I just needed Avalon's inflation to be smart. Not hyper-inflationary like The key metric to consider for this issue, is the number of tokens distributed per user per day. If this metric goes down, then the incentive for staying on the network and playing the game, goes down everyday. You feel like you're making less and less from your efforts. If this metric goes up, the number of printed tokens goes up and the token is hyper-inflationary and holding it feels really bad if you aren't actively earning from the inflation by playing the game.
Avalon ensures that the number of printed tokens is proportional to the number of users with active stake. If more users come in, avalon prints more tokens, if users cash-out and stop transacting, the inflation goes down. This ensures that earning 1 DTC will be about as hard today, tomorrow, next month or next year, no matter how many people have registered or left d.tube, and no matter what happens on the markets.

Another big issue that most steemians don't really know about, but that is really detrimental to STEEM, is how the voting power mana bar works. I guess having to manage a 2M SP delegation for @dtube really convinced me of this one.
When your mana bar is full at 100%, you lose out the potential power generation, and rewards coming from it. And it only takes 5 days to go from 0% to 100%. A lot of people have very valid reasons to be offline for 5 days+, they shouldn't be punished so hard. This is why all most big stake holders make sure to always spend some of their voting power on a daily basis. And this is why minnows or smaller holders miss out on tons of curation rewards, unless they delegate to a bidbot or join some curation guild... meh. I guess a lot of people would rather just cash-out and don't mind the trouble of having to optimize their stake.
So why is it even a mana bar? Why can't it grow forever? Well, everything in a computer has to have a limit, but why is this limit proportional to my stake? While I totally understand the purpose of making the bandwidth limited and forcing big stake holders to waste it, I think it's totally unneeded and inadapted for the voting power. As long as the growth of the VP is proportional to the stake, the system stays sybil-resistant, and there could technically be no limit at all if it wasn't for the fact that this is ran in a computer where numbers have a limited number of bits.
On Avalon, I made it so that your voting power grows virtually indefinitely, or at least I don't think anyone will ever reach the current limit of Number.MAX_SAFE_INTEGER: 9007199254740991 or about 9 Peta VP. If you go inactive for 6 months on an account with some DTCs, when you come back you will have 6 months worth of power generation to spend, turning you into a whale, at least for a few votes.
Another awkward limit on STEEM is how a 100% vote spends only 2% of your power. Not only STEEM forces you to be active on a daily basis, you also need to do a minimum of 10 votes / day to optimize your earnings. On Avalon, you can use 100% of your stored voting power in a single mega-vote if you wish, it's up to you.

No Author rewards

People should vote with the intent of getting a reward from it. If 75% of the value forcibly goes to the author, it's hard to expect a good return from curation. Steem is currently basically a complex donation platform. No one wants to donate when they vote, no matter what they will say, and no matter how much vote-trading, self-voting or bid-botting happens.
So in order to keep a system where money is printed when votes happen, if we cannot use the username of the author to distribute rewards, the only possibility left is to use the list of previous voters aka "Curation rewards". The 25% interesting part of STEEM, that has totally be shadowed by the author rewards for too long.

Downvote rewards

STEEM has always suffered from the issue that the downvote button is unused, or when it's used, it's mostly for evil. This comes from the fact that in STEEM's model, downvotes are not eligible for any rewards. Even if they were, your downvote would be lowering the final payout of the content, and your own curation rewards...
I wanted Avalon's downvotes to be completely symmetric to the upvotes. That means if we revert all the votes (upvotes become downvotes and vice versa), the content should still distribute the same amount of tokens to the same people, at the same time.

No payment windows

Steem has a system of payments windows. When you publish a content, it opens a payment window where people can freely upvote or downvote to influence the payout happening 7 days later. This is convenient when you want a system where downvotes lower rewards. Waiting 7 days to collect rewards is also another friction point for new users, some of them might never come back 7 days later to convince themselves that 'it works'. On avalon, when you are part of the winners of curation after a vote, you earn it instantly in your account, 100% liquid and transferable.

Unlimited monetization in time

Indeed, the 7 days monetization limit has been our biggest issue for our video platform since day 8. This incentivized our users to create more frequent, but lesser quality content, as they know that they aren't going to earn anything from the 'long-haul'. Monetization had to be unlimited on DTube, so that even a 2 years old video could be dug up and generate rewards in the far future.
Infinite monetization is possible, but as removing tokens from a balance is impossible, the downvotes cannot remove money from the payout like they do on STEEM. Instead, downvotes print money in the same way upvotes do, downvotes still lower the popularity in the hot and trending and should only rewards other people who downvoted the same content earlier.

New curation rewards algorithm

STEEM's curation algorithm isn't stupid, but I believe it lacks some elegance. The 15 minutes 'band-aid' necessary to prevent curation bots (bots who auto vote as fast as possible on contents of popular authors) that they added proves it. The way is distributes the reward also feels very flat and boring. The rewards for my votes are very predictable, especially if I'm the biggest voter / stake holder for the content. My own vote is paying for my own curation rewards, how stupid is that? If no one elses votes after my big vote despite a popularity boost, it probably means I deserve 0 rewards, no?
I had to try different attempts to find an algorithm yielding interesting results, with infinite monetization, and without obvious ways to exploit it. The final distribution algorithm is more complex than STEEM's curation but it's still pretty simple. When a vote is cast, we calculate the 'popularity' at the time of the vote. The first vote is given a popularity of 0, the next votes are defined by (total_vp_upvotes - total_vp_downvotes) / time_since_1st_vote. Then we look into the list of previous votes, and we remove all votes in the opposite direction (up/down). The we remove all the votes with a higher popularity if its an upvote, or the ones with a lower popularity if its a downvote. The remaining votes in the list are the 'winners'. Finally, akin to STEEM, the amount of tokens generated by the vote will be split between winners proportionally to the voting power spent by each (linear rewards - no advantages for whales) and distributed instantly. Instead of purely using the order of the votes, Avalon distribution is based on when the votes are cast, and each second that passes reduces the popularity of a content, potentially increasing the long-term ROI of the next vote cast on it.
Graph It's possible to chart the popularity that influences the DTC monetary distribution directly in the d.tube UI
This algorithm ensures there are always losers. The last upvoter never earns anything, also the person who upvoted at the highest popularity, and the one who downvoted at the lowest popularity would never receive any rewards for their vote. Just like the last upvoter and last downvoter wouldn't either. All the other ones in the middle may or may not receive anything, depending on how the voting and popularity evolved in time. The one with an obvious advantage, is the first voter who is always counted as 0 popularity. As long as the content stays at a positive popularity, every upvote will earn him rewards. Similarly, being the first downvoter on an overly-popular content could easily earn you 100% rewards on the next downvote that could be from a whale, earning you a fat bonus.
While Avalon doesn't technically have author rewards, the first-voter advantage is strong, and the author has the advantage of always being the first voter, so the author can still earn from his potentially original creations, he just needs to commit some voting power on his own contents to be able to publish.

More scalable than shared blockchains

Another issue with generalistic blockchains like ETH/STEEM/EOS/TRX, which are currently hosting dozens of semi-popular web/mobile apps, is the reduced scalability of such shared models. Again, everything in a computer has a limit. For DPOS blockchains, 99%+ of the CPU load of a producing node will be to verify the signatures of the many transactions coming in every 3 seconds. And sadly this fact will not change with time. Even if we had a huge breakthrough on CPU speeds today, we would need to update the cryptographic standards for blockchains to keep them secure. This means it would NOT become easier to scale up the number of verifiable transactions per seconds.
Oh, but we are not there yet you're thinking? Or maybe you think that we'll all be rich if we reach the scalability limits so it doesn't really matter? WRONG
The limit is the number of signature verifications the most expensive CPU on the planet can do. Most blockchains use the secp256k1 curve, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Steem and now Avalon. It was originally chosen for Bitcoin by Satoshi Nakamoto probably because it's decently quick at verifying signatures, and seems to be backdoor-proof (or else someone is playing a very patient game). Maybe some other curves exist with faster signature verification speed, but it won't be improved many-fold, and will likely require much research, auditing, and time to get adopted considering the security implications.
In 2015 Graphene was created, and Bitshares was completely rewritten. This was able to achieve 100,000 transaction per second on a single machine, and decentralized global stress testing achieved 18,000 transactions per second on a distributed network.
So BitShares/STEEM and other DPOS graphene chains in production can validate at most 18000 txs/sec, so about 1.5 billion transactions per day. EOS, Tendermint, Avalon, LIBRA or any other DPOS blockchain can achieve similar speeds, because there's no planet-killing proof-of-works, and thanks to the leader-based/democratic system that reduces the number of nodes taking part in the consensus.
As a comparison, there are about 4 billion likes per day on instagram, so you can probably double that with the actual uploads, stories and comments, password changes, etc. The load is also likely unstable through the day, probably some hours will go twice as fast as the average. You wouldn't be able to fit Instagram in a blockchain, ever, even with the most scalable blockchain tech on the world's best hardware. You'd need like a dozen of those chains. And instagram is still a growing platform, not as big as Facebook, or YouTube.
So, splitting this limit between many popular apps? Madness! Maybe it's still working right now, but when many different apps reach millions of daily active users plus bots, it won't fit anymore.
Serious projects with a big user base will need to rethink the shared blockchain models like Ethereum, EOS, TRX, etc because the fees in gas or necessary stake required to transact will skyrocket, and the victims will be the hordes of minnows at the bottom of the distribution spectrum.
If we can't run a full instagram on a DPOS blockchain, there is absolutely no point trying to run medium+reddit+insta+fb+yt+wechat+vk+tinder on one. Being able to run half an instagram is already pretty good and probably enough to actually onboard a fair share of the planet. But if we multiply the load by the number of different app concepts available, then it's never gonna scale.
DTube chain is meant for the DTube UI only. Please do not build something unrelated to video connecting to our chain, we would actively do what we can to prevent you from growing. We want this chain to be for video contents only, and the JSON format of the contents should always follow the one used by d.tube.
If you are interested in avalon tech for your project isn't about video, it's strongly suggested to fork the blockchain code and run your own avalon chain with a different origin id, instead of trying to connect your project to dtube's mainnet. If you still want to do it, chain leaders would be forced to actively combat your project as we would consider it as useless noise inside our dedicated blockchain.

Focused governance

Another issue of sharing a blockchain, is the issues coming up with the governance of it. Tons of features enabled by avalon would be controversial to develop on STEEM, because they'd only benefit DTube, and maybe even hurt/break some other projects. At best they'd be put at the bottom of a todo list somewhere. Having a blockchain dedicated to a single project enables it to quickly push updates that are focused on a single product, not dozens of totally different projects.
Many blockchain projects are trying to make decentralized governance true, but this is absolutely not what I am interested in for DTube. Instead, in avalon the 'init' account, or 'master' account, has very strong permissions. In the DTC case, @dtube: * will earn 10% fees from all the inflation * will not have to burn DTCs to create accounts * will be able to do certain types of transactions when others can't * * account creation (during steem exclusivity period) * * transfers (during IEO period) * * transfering voting power and bandwidth ressources (used for easier onboarding)
For example, for our IEO we will setup a mainnet where only @dtube is allowed to transfer funds or vote until the IEO completes and the airdrop happens. This is also what enabled us to create a 'steem-only' registration period on the public testnet for the first month. Only @dtube can create accounts, this way we can enforce a 1 month period where users can port their username for free, without imposters having a chance to steal usernames. Through the hard-forking mechanism, we can enable/disable these limitations and easily evolve the rules and permissions of the blockchain, for example opening monetary transfers at the end of our IEO, or opening account creation once the steem exclusivity ends.
Luckily, avalon is decentralized, and all these parameters (like the @dtube fees, and @dtube permissions) are easily hardforkable by the leaders. @dtube will however be a very strong leader in the chain, as we plan to use our vote to at least keep the #1 producing node for as long as we can.
We reserve the right to 'not follow' an hardfork. For example, it's obvious we wouldn't follow something like reducing our fees to 0% as it would financially endanger the project, and we would rather just continue our official fork on our own and plug d.tube domain and mobile app to it.
On the other end of the spectrum, if other leaders think @dtube is being tyranical one way or another, leaders will always have the option of declining the new hardforks and putting the system on hold, then @dtube will have an issue and will need to compromise or betray the trust of 1/3 of the stake holders, which could reveal costly.
The goal is to have a harmounious, enterprise-level decision making within the top leaders. We expect these leaders to be financially and emotionally connected with the project and act for good. @dtube is to be expected to be the main good actor for the chain, and any permission given to it should be granted with the goal of increasing the DTC marketcap, and nothing else. Leaders and @dtube should be able to keep cooperation high enough to keep the hard-forks focused on the actual issues, and flowing faster than other blockchain projects striving for a totally decentralized governance, a goal they are unlikely to ever achieve.

A lot of hard-forking

Avalon is easily hard-forkable, and will get hard-forked often, on purpose. No replays will be needed for leaders/exchanges during these hard-forks, just pull the new hardfork code, and restart the node before the hard-fork planned time to stay on the main fork. Why is this so crucial? It's something about game theory.
I have no former proof for this, but I assume a social and financial game akin to the one played on steem since 2016 to be impossible to perfectly balance, even with a thourough dichotomical process. It's probably because of some psychological reason, or maybe just the fact that humans are naturally greedy. Or maybe it's just because of the sheer number of players. They can gang up together, try to counter each others, and find all sorts of creative ideas to earn more and exploit each other. In the end, the slightest change in the rules, can cause drastic gameplay changes. It's a real problem, luckily it's been faced by other people in the past.
Similarly to what popular and succesful massively multiplayer games have achieved, I plan to patch or suggest hard-forks for avalon's mainnet on a bi-monthly basis. The goal of this perfect imbalance concept, is to force players to re-discover their best strategy often. By introducing regular, small, and semi-controlled changes into this chaos, we can fake balance. This will require players to be more adaptative and aware of the changes. This prevents the game from becoming stale and boring for players, while staying fair.

Death to bots

Automators on the other side, will need to re-think their bots, go through the developement and testing phase again, on every new hard-fork. It will be an unfair cat-and-mouse game. Doing small and semi-random changes in frequent hard-forks will be a easy task for the dtube leaders, compared to the work load generated to maintain the bots. In the end, I hope their return on investment to be much lower compared to the bid-bots, up to a point where there will be no automation.
Imagine how different things would have been if SteemIt Inc acted strongly against bid-bots or other forms of automation when they started appearing? Imagine if hard-forks were frequent and they promised to fight bid-bots and their ilk? Who would be crazy enough to make a bid-bot apart from @berniesanders then?
I don't want you to earn DTCs unless you are human. The way you are going to prove you are human, is not by sending a selfie of you with your passport to a 3rd party private company located on the other side of the world. You will just need to adapt to the new rules published every two weeks, and your human brain will do it subconsciously by just playing the voting game and seeing the rewards coming.
All these concepts are aimed at directly improving d.tube, making it more resilient, and scale both technologically and economically. Having control over the full tech stack required to power our dapp will prevent issues like the one we had with the search engine, where we relied too heavily on a 3rd party tool, and that created a 6-months long bug that basically broke 1/3 of the UI.
While d.tube's UI can now totally run independently from any other entity, we kept everything we could working with STEEM, and the user is now able to transparently publish/vote/comment videos on 2 different chains with one click. This way we can keep on leveraging the generalistic good features of STEEM that our new chain doesn't focuses on doing, such as the dollar-pegged token, the author rewards/donation mechanism, the tribes/communities tokens, and simply the extra exposure d.tube users can get from other website (steemit.com, busy.org, partiko, steempeak, etc), which is larger than the number of people using d.tube directly.
The public testnet has been running pretty well for 3 weeks now, with 6000+ accounts registered, and already a dozen of independant nodes popping up and running for leaders. The majority of the videos are cross-posted on both chains and the daily video volume has slightly increased since the update, despite the added friction of the new 'double login' system and several UI bugs.
If you've read this article, I'm hoping to get some reactions from you in the comments section!
Some even more focused articles about avalon are going to pop on my blog in the following weeks, such as how to get a node running and running for leadewitness, so feel free to follow me to get more news and help me reach 10K followers ;)
